Los Angeles police say the victim was 29-year-old Paul Rodriguez of Montebello. He was apparently killed outside one of the tents at a sprawling encampment in Boyle Heights. The shots were fired a little after one a.m. on Monday under a bridge near Mission Road and First Street. Police continue to investigate. It’s not clear who fired the shots or why Rodriguez was targeted. Investigators say that particular encampment has around 50 people.
