Prosecutors believe that Verónica Aguilar neglected her son to death. His body was found wrapped inside of a blanket in the closet of Aguilar’s Echo Park home and the 11-year old only weighed just over 30-pounds. The boy’s stepfather claims Aguilar told him the boy had been shipped to Mexico to get treatment for a learning disability, and he had no clue he was in the house. The death penalty was taken off the table Monday, but she still faces possible life without parole.
