Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin says a grand jury declined to pursue a case. The DA says he will not file charges against Los Angeles Police officer Salvador Sanchez. Corona Police Chief George Johnstone says Sanchez shot Kenneth French several times after the 32-year-old knocked him to the ground.
”So, there were a total of 10 rounds fired from the weapon, four of which struck Kenneth French, three to the back and one to the shoulder.”
French’s parents were also shot but survived. The DA says the officer believed he was in an active shooter situation and that his young son was in danger. The DA took the case to the grand jury to force some witnesses to testify.
