Investigators believe Bryan Araujocabrera (uh-ROW-hu-CUB-rera) of Pacoima and Daniel Noguiera (no-GEAR-uh) of Eagle Rock started the fire. NBC 4 reports the suspects allegedly exchanged words with someone at a homeless encampment before tossing an incendiary device in their location. Neighbors like Lucy Filipian tell KTLA 5 they’re outraged.

”Why would they do that? And to put so many people’s lives at risk and their homes. Those poor firefighters. They’re our neighbors. It was the scariest thing to live through.”

Sources tell Channel 4 the fire near the 2 and 134 Freeways was set with the intention of killing the people in the encampment.
