Sheriff Alex Villanueva says Angel Reynosa is no longer a deputy or county employee. He says Reynosa did admit that he lied about being shot. An investigation was launched after the rookie claimed he had been hit by a sniper.
”By Saturday, evidence examination established a need to interview Deputy Reynosa, at which time he admitted that he had not been shot.”
The shooting hoax triggered a massive response at the Lancaster station. Buildings were searched and tactical response teams deployed. The sheriff says a criminal investigation is underway, but he’s restricted from talking about employment issues.
