Zachary Castaneda is formally charged with four counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, one count of aggravated mayhem, three counts of robbery and single counts of assault with a deadly weapon and burglary. The charges include a special circumstance allegation of multiple murders. That opens up a death penalty possibility if the 33-year-old felon is convicted. Wednesday’s crime spree left a trail of blood and destruction across Garden Grove and Santa Ana where the suspect allegedly stabbed and robbed people at random over a terrifying two hours.
