The summit between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was watched closely by the local Los Angeles Korean-American community.
Joon Bang is the Executive Director of the Korean American Coalition. He says witnessing the progress between the U.S. and North Korea is almost overwhelming:
”It was a really emotional experience. So we had a watch party last night and we had about 30 – 40 community members show up. You know, it was kind of surreal. It was almost like watching a cartoon. It was really a lot to take in, I think.”
He says the summit gives the community hope that people in North Korea will someday have a better life.
“Some concrete, practical next steps so that there’s peace on the peninsula but also so that the country of North Korea starts moving in a direction where it starts joining the rest of the world in doing right by its own people.”
Joon Bang was guest on McIntyre in the Morning.
