Traveling through LAX may become less of a hassle thanks to a new automated system that the TSA hopes will cut down checkpoint wait time.

LAX is joining the ranks of O’Hare and Atlanta airports after rolling in the new system that automatically rolls much larger bins to travelers.

“It allows five customers to do this simultaneously and then push your bags through and walk around. If somebody’s slower than you, you can kinda walk around them and that speeds up the process.”

Jeff Riedel with United Airlines.

“The bin is right underneath. As soon as you’re finished with the first one you can grab another one, pull it up, it’s automatically there so that’s a portion of the automation.”

Only Terminal 7 has the automated system for now, but LAX will expand to other airlines next year.
