A new federal task force is investigating homelessness spending in Southern California.  Ciaran McEvoy, spokesman for newly appointed U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli, says a recent court-ordered audit shows poor management and accounting practices within the L.A. County Homelessness Authority

He adds the homelessness crisis has shown no signs of slowing.  The Central District of California Homelessness Fraud and Corruption Task Force will investigate crimes related to the misappropriation of federal tax dollars intended to end homelessness.  Among the agencies participating in the task force are the FBI, U.S. Housing and Urban Development Office of Inspector General, and the IRS.
