Today, Los Angeles County’s sales tax rate goes up by a quarter of a percent. The new sales tax rate will be 9.75%. It comes after voters approved Measure A last November. The measure gives the county more funding for addressing issues related to homelessness. The cities of Palmdale and Lancaster will see their sales tax rates go up a full percentage point to 11.25%. That is the highest sales tax rate in L.A. County. The two cities will use the extra tax revenue to grow and improve local programs, public safety and infrastructure.
