The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating UCLA and U.C. Irvine for possible DEI admissions policies.  The compliance review investigations will determine if the universities were using diversity, equity and inclusion criteria for selecting students.

The investigations were ordered by U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi, after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that colleges and universities are not allowed to use DEI as a basis for admission.  On Thursday, USC announced it is no longer using the term “diversity, equity and inclusion” due to “disagreements” about the phrase and its interpretations.  USC will be calling the initiative “community” instead.
