Meta has agreed to pay $25 million to settle a lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump after his accounts were suspended following the Jan. 6 Capitol attack.
The settlement includes $22 million for Trump’s future presidential library and the rest for legal fees and other litigants.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg visited Trump in November and, after Trump suggested resolving the litigation, negotiations began between the parties.
Meta made a $1 million donation to Trump’s inaugural committee and dropped fact-checking on its platform ahead of Trump’s inauguration.
The settlement with Meta follows ABC News agreeing to pay $15 million for Trump’s presidential library to settle a defamation lawsuit.
