California lawmakers have introduced a bill requiring voters to show government-issued ID at polls and for mail-in voting. The bill seeks to reverse a previous law preventing local ID requirements and mandates proof of citizenship for voter registration. Counties must also count mail-in ballots within three days after an election or risk losing automatic mail ballot privileges. State auditors will be permitted to review voter lists and signature verification processes used by counties.
