U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has a new field office in San Francisco to enforce immigration laws under President Donald Trump. ICE agents were recently spotted in San Francisco and San Jose, but officials did not provide details on their activities or if anyone was arrested. Community leaders report that on Friday, ICE agents targeted janitors in downtown San Francisco. The next day, they were seen on Story Road in East San Jose, an area with many immigrants. There was also an operation in Capitol Park. Under Trump’s policies, ICE agents can now arrest people without legal status even if they encounter them while searching for those they are targeting.
