Cleanup and debris removal in Los Angeles County’s wildfire zones will not be allowed until hazardous materials inspections are completed. That is outlined in an order issued Wednesday by Los Angeles County Health Officer Doctor Muntu Davis. A statement from the L.A. County Department of Public Health says there is concern about fire debris containing asbestos, heavy metals and other hazardous substances. People can be exposed to those toxic substances through inhaling ash and fire dust particles, touching it with exposed skin, or by drinking contaminated water.
