Bad Actors Use Disaster to Steal Cash

Police want to warn anyone looking to donate to the relief efforts for the victims of the California fire about scams. Authorities say they’ve seen a rise in scam artists who are exploiting the crisis. LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell says they are working with the State Attorney General, and the Justice Department. And, he says, they are eager to prosecute these scam artists. In addition to fake charities, there are also warnings about job offers for positions in fire recovery. They are circulating on social media and could be an effort to steal your personal information.
