As red flag conditions continue in Los Angeles, the Palisades Fire has reached the Pacific Ocean, where it’s burning down lifeguard towers. Many homes in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood are in ashes, with the fire now at almost three-thousand acres burned. Ten-thousand homes are in danger, and fire officials say 30-thousand people are under mandatory evacuation orders. So far, there are no reports of injuries. The fire is being fueled by 40-mile-per-hour winds along with dry, warm conditions. Those conditions are forecast to continue through Wednesday.
Gridlock is creating a dangerous situation in the Palisades Fire burning in Southern California. Emergency crews and fire personnel are being hindered by abandoned vehicles on several roads including Palisades Drive. Steve Guttenberg, an actor in “Police Academy” tells KTLA people are stuck in the hills.
Officials are using bulldozers to clear abandoned vehicles on Palisades Drive so emergency vehicles can get through. They say if you have evacuated and are asked to flee your vehicle, leave the keys so it can be moved. The Los Angeles Fire Department has sent extra resources to wildfire-prone areas in the south state, as dry and windy weather is expected across Southern California until Thursday.
