The city of Santa Clara is off the hook for millions of dollars in potential costs to help host the 2026 World Cup. Santa Clara leaders say it will likely cost between 45 and 50 million dollars to help host the major soccer event. The Bay Area Host Committee has agreed to a deal with Santa Clara to cover all of those costs and also allow for a ticket surcharge that will allow the city to make a couple of million dollars. The committee believes the region will see about 630-million dollars of economic impact from the World Cup coming to the area.
