A suspected drunk driver who killed a San Jose community service officer is no longer behind bars. A judge has ruled Juan Huerta-Palacios can be allowed to be free on bail before he is tried in the death of Community Service Officer Long Pham.
Lawmakers and police officials are ridiculing the decision, saying the officer’s family and the community of San Jose deserves better. Huerta-Palacios is facing murder and DUI charges for losing control of his Dodge Charger in August and triggering an accident that left Pham dead and Pham’s partner seriously injured.
