A recently seen set of license plates has caused outrage and prompted action by the DMV. The plates were spotted on a vehicle at the intersection of Sepulveda and Jefferson in Culver City.
The organization Stop Antisemitism posted on X that the plates read LOLOCT7 – which it says stands for laugh out loud, October 7 – and celebrates the October 7th terrorist attack by Hamas in Israel.
The organization demanded that the DMV immediately recall the plates. In a post, also on X, the DMV apologized for allowing the personalized plates to be issued and said that it is moving quickly to recall them. The post also said the department would be improving it’s review process to make sure such an oversight never happens again.
