The Franklin Fire in Malibu, California, has now burned nearly four-thousand acres of land and is seven percent contained. Some two thousand homes are under mandatory evacuation orders, and the residents of another six thousand have been told to be ready to go.
An unconfirmed number of homes have burned, but fire officials say there may be as many as seven destroyed and eight damaged. Electricity remains out for a 25-square-mile area, and that includes power to cell towers, making it difficult to communicate with residents.
