Close to five-million people in Northern California are no longer under a Tsunami warning after a 7.0 earthquake hit offshore. The warning has been cancelled by the Tsunami Warning Center.

On X, California State Senator Mike McGuire said that, “The State is sending immediate assistance to Humboldt & Del Norte Counties to assist with emergency operations” and that, “Approx 10k customers are currently without power in Humboldt County.”

The quake hit near the California-Oregon state line.  Shaking could be felt in San Francisco, Oakland and Alameda.  So far, there are no reports of injuries or damage.  A few minutes later an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 was felt in the town of Cobb, California, about 100 miles northwest of Sacramento.
