Border security will be the top priority of the incoming Senate Republicans. In a closed-door meeting Tuesday, incoming Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota laid out a two-step process to pass President-elect Trump’s agenda without needing help from Democrats.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said his top priority was securing the U.S. southern border. Graham said the GOP’s goal was not just to finish the wall but to have “eyes and ears on the border,” and to hire the people necessary to start deporting “the bad guys and crooks and gangs” and to have more capacity to hold them.
