A federal judge says a San Jose State volleyball player can play in the upcoming women’s conference tournament despite allegation she’s transgender.  U.S. District Judge S. Kato Crews allowed the player, who’s been part of the team all season, to compete in the Mountain West Conference tournament in Las Vegas.

The decision follows a lawsuit from nine players challenging the conference’s rules that allow transgender athletes to play, arguing it could be unsafe and unfair.  Neither San Jose State nor the teams that might forfeit have confirmed whether the player is transgender.
