California’s average gas price could skyrocket to up to 62 percent higher than the national average in 2025. Two weeks ago, the California Air Resources Board passed a new special blend mandate for California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard.
The board has already said the mandatory new special blend will increase the retail price of gasoline by 47 cents per gallon. But a study by the University of Pennsylvania Kleinman Center for Energy Policy estimates gas prices will increase by 65 cents per gallon in 2025, by 85 cents per gallon in 2030 and by a dollar-50 per gallon in 2035.
