A judge is dismissing California’s lawsuit against Huntington Beach’s voter ID law. In March of this year, voters in the charter city approved a voter identification requirement for municipal elections. State Attorney General Rob Bonta sued, saying cities cannot enact laws that conflict with state law. On Friday, the judge ruled that the city can continue to require identification for the 2026 election.
