Today, the Los Angeles City Council will consider the appointment of Jim McDonnell as police chief. McDonnell, a former Los Angeles County sheriff, would become the 59th chief in the history of the LAPD. Mayor Karen Bass nominated McDonnell last month. He would take over for former chief Michel Moore, who retired in February. The council meeting is scheduled to start at ten a.m.
