Governor has called a special session of the state legislature, which will look at ways to protect the state’s progressive policies from the incoming Trump administration. But California Republicans says this is more grandstanding from Gavin Newsom.
Assemblyman Bill Essayli says, instead of focusing on national politics, the Governor needs to pay attention to what state voters have said they want. He pointed to the get-tough-on-crime Prop-36, which passed by an overwhelming margin.
Assemblyman Bill Essayli also says the governor wants the spotlight for a future run at the White House. Adding, “It’s obvious that Governor Newsom wants to run for president as the anti-Trump candidate.”
