California State law says you can take paid time off to vote.  You can take as much time as you need to vote; however, legally, you’ll only be paid for two hours. Some national retailers actually adjust their hours on Election Day, like Bath & Body Works. It’ll open stores two hours later than usual so employees can vote. At Best Buy, it’ll pay employees to volunteer at voting centers. And Patagonia closed its stores on Oct. 29th to encourage early voting on “National Vote Early Day.” On Tuesday’s Election Day, most businesses, including banks and post offices, will remain open.
