WalletHub has ranked the safest states in the U.S., with four of the top five in the Northeast and one from the West. California, however, is among the least safe, landing in the bottom 15. Researchers considered factors like the number of police officers, traffic fatalities, unemployment rates, uninsured populations, and the number of adults saving for emergencies.
