PG&E is alerting more than 30,000 customers across multiple Northern California counties about possible power shutoffs starting Thursday due to dry, windy weather that increases wildfire risk.

The utility’s Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) actions could affect residents in areas including Alameda (28 customers), Contra Costa (805), Mendocino (10), Monterey (576), Napa (648), Solano (2,467), and Sonoma (707). To check if their area might be impacted, customers can visit pge.com/pspsupdates. PG&E emphasizes that the shutoffs aim to prevent catastrophic wildfires by preemptively cutting power in areas where extreme weather threatens the grid.

A red flag warning issued by the National Weather Service for the Bay Area begins at 11 p.m. Thursday, with forecasts of low humidity and winds up to 65 mph in higher elevations.

The warning lasts until 5 p.m. Saturday. Customers are encouraged to update their contact information at pge.com/mywildfirealerts or call (800) 743-5000.
