Oakland’s mayor is launching a campaign to keep her job. Sheng Thao held a rally outside the Rockridge BART Station yesterday, saying this is the time to “reject the pettiness” and put people over politics.
She’s fighting her recall next month, when voters will decide whether to remove her from office. Thao defended her record, claiming crime is down 35-percent.
She also credits initiatives she’s pushed for starting to bring downtown back to life.
As voters started receiving election information guides, many noticed the mayor did not file an official rebuttal statement. An anti-recall spokesman told the San Francisco Chronicle that it “fell through the cracks.”
