The city of San Bernardino will resume homeless encampment cleanups after striking a deal with the American Civil Liberties Union. The deal ends an injunction, filed by the ACLU, which temporarily put encampment cleanups on hold. In a lawsuit, the ACLU claimed the city was throwing out homeless people’s personal property.

San Bernardino is now agreeing to not dispose of personal property without consent. City crews will also post multiple signs in advance of planned encampment cleanups. And people removed from encampments will not be displaced without first being offered non-congregate interim housing, like a hotel room.
