The owner of Langer’s Deli near MacArthur Park is speaking about the visit he got from Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. Norm Langer says he’ll wait and see if the city does anything to clean up the street where his deli has operated for 77 years. He says he is fed up with crime, street vendors, and homeless people who are mentally ill or on drugs. He calls it “visual blight.” Langer is threatening to close the deli because the city isn’t doing enough.
