California is considering adding new official state symbols. One bill aims to designate the banana slug as the official state slug. The banana slug is found in redwood forests throughout the state and has a unique relationship with redwood trees. Another bill is looking to make the Dungeness crab the official state crustacean. They’re found along the northern and central coasts of California and are commonly served in restaurants.
