Some fast-food restaurants in Los Angeles are now charging fees for bags.
The fees have been noticed by McDonald’s and Chick-fil-A customers in recent months. The L.A. City Attorney’s Office says it’s perfectly legal. Last July, the 2013 bag ordinance that allows grocery stores to charge for bags was amended to also include restaurants.
But, not all fast-food restaurants are choosing to charge for bags. The companies say it’s up to individual franchisees. But, other fast-food places have posted signs outside, warning customers of the fee, which is also applied to orders on apps.
