Actress and former MMA fighter Gina Carano’s wrongful termination lawsuit against Disney and Lucasfilm is a step closer to going to trial. Carano sued for wrongful termination and discrimination after getting fired in February 2021 from “The Mandalorian.”
The company fired her over her social media posts about COVID-19, gender identity and the 2020 presidential election’s outcome. She also compared the treatment of Trump supporters to Jews during the Holocaust in one Instagram post. But a Los Angeles federal judge ruled that the company failed to defend its actions against Carano’s First Amendment rights. Carano’s lawsuit is backed by tech billionaire Elon Musk.
