A criminal investigation has begun into the siege of the Student Services Building at California State University Los Angeles. On Wednesday night, dozens of pro-Palestinian protesters barricaded themselves inside the building, damaging furniture and appliances and vandalizing the windows, walls, and walkways.
The President of the University, as well as other administrative staff, had to shelter in place for several hours as the violent incident unfolded. According to the President, three employees and one student were assaulted by the protesters. Demonstrators have occupied an encampment on campus for 60 days and, until Wednesday, have been mostly peaceful.
The school is calling for the encampment to be dismantled.
