Los Angeles International Airport may be the drug trafficking gateway to the world. That’s the assessment of law enforcement who spoke to ABC 7 in an exclusive investigation. Across the country, in Polk County, Florida, the Sheriff says a big percentage of the drugs that end up in his jurisdiction entered the U.S. through LAX.
He says they come packed inside of luggage. A recent bust of a drug ring revealed the problem at LAX is bigger than anyone knew. Federal agencies have been investigating LAX for about four years, and dozens of arrests have been made. But according to Polk County’s sheriff, the drugs keep coming.
