A dangerous heat wave is set to impact much of California and other Far West states this week, but the so-called “June Gloom” will keep some coastal cities cooler. The NWS says record temperatures are expected with an excessive heat warning to be in place for Fresno, Madera, Tulare and other neighboring communities.

Meteorologists warn some areas could see life-threatening temperatures from 103 to 108 degrees, with the potential the mercury could go even higher by Thursday. The region is also under a wind advisory that calls for sustained northwest winds from 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 55 mph which increases the risk for wildfires.
