Efforts are underway to allegedly make a busy road in Palo Alto safer for cyclists. El Camino Real also doubles as State Highway 82. It’s never had bike lanes but could get them by fall.
Advocates are working with the city and Caltrans to build the lanes when a major repaving project begins.
They would be similar to what San Jose recently added, but businesses fear they may lose customers if street parking is removed.
