Californians are bracing for summer and not just for the heat. A few days before the 4th of July, the state of California is planning to issue an increased gas tax. San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond says he plans on sending a letter to state leadership in hopes of preventing the increase.
This follows the so-called Road Repair and Accountability Act passed in 2017. It raises the gas tax to keep up with inflation. That means the gas tax will go up by two cents per gallon this year. This would bring the gas tax up to almost 60 cents per gallon.
