The last free access beach in Big Sur is banning overnight camping and campfires.  This will last for two years due to management issues and to give fire crews time to reset the natural habitat.

San Carpoforo Beach, also known as San Carpo, is important to several animal species.  It also doesn’t have trashcans or restrooms, which is why human waste and garbage gets left behind.  Day use will still be allowed.
