California Governor Gavin Newsom is facing another recall attempt.  Activists with the group “Rescue California” are serving Newsom’s office with the official recall papers on Monday.

Proponents of the recall claim the Governor is spending too much time in the national political sphere, rather than focusing on the issues facing California and its voters.  They insist that Newsom has “abandoned the state” as it grapples with an estimated 73-billion-dollar budget shortfall.

The group needs just over one-point-three million verified signatures by May in order to qualify for the November ballot.  In 2021,

Newsom beat a prior recall that was organized by some of the same people from “Rescue California.”  So far, no comment from Newsom’s office.
