Historic Hotel May Become Homeless Housing

By

A historic hotel may become another place to house the homeless in Los Angeles. The L.A. City Council is considering buying the historic Mayfair Hotel and turning it into interim homeless housing. Mayor Karen Bass wants the nearly 300-room hotel in Westlake, near Downtown L.A., for her Inside Safe initiative. The Mayfair already served as a Project Roomkey site for the homeless during the pandemic emergency period. Nearby residents and business owners say that led to their neighborhood becoming overrun with drug use, violence and trash.
