The superintendent of Los Angeles schools says it’s okay to send students to school is they’re just “mildly sick,” as long as they don’t have a fever.

Alberto Carvalho says concerns for students’ mental health is a major factor in wanting to reduce the high number of absences in recent years since the pandemic.

Carvalho said “The physical threat of COVID has been by far replaced with the mental consequences” caused by a “lack of consistent attendance in school.”
