Cadaver dogs and their handlers from fire departments in Southern California are headed to Maui to search for additional victims of the devastating wildfire in Lahaina. That includes K-9 teams from the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Urban Search and Rescue division and the Orange County Fire Authority. The death toll is now up to 96, making it the deadliest wildfire in the U.S. in more than a century. Authorities say their work to find and identify the dead is still in the early stages. Cadaver dogs have only covered three-percent of the search area, which includes the rubble of what used to be homes and businesses, roads, and burned out cars.
