Police in Southern California are looking for a trio of robbers who may be responsible for three smash-and-grab robberies at jewelry stores. The latest happened Monday at a Kay Jewelers store in Irvine and investigators say there is a pattern. In each case, the robbers brought in kitchen-style plastic trash cans.
Stores in Downey and Ontario were also recently hit by robbers wearing black hoodies with their faces covered. They entered the stores and used hammers to smash the jewelry cases, dump the contents into the trash cans and get away. In the case of the Irvine robbery, nearly one million dollars’ worth of jewelry was taken.
