(Washington, DC) — A new report says California Senator Dianne Feinstein experienced complications after contracting shingles. The New York Times reports the 89-year-old contracted encephalitis, which is swelling of the brain that can leave patients with lasting memory problems and bouts of confusion. Feinstein returned to Capitol Hill after a more than two-month absence recovering from shingles. She faced pressure to return to Washington to help advance President Biden’s judicial nominations, with some members of her own party calling for her to quickly return or resign.
