(Los Angeles, CA) — Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna is requesting more money to hire eleven-hundred new deputies. He also wants more cash so he can double up on captains at problematic Sheriff’s stations. Luna also wants to buy a jail management system and get new tasers for patrol deputies. Luna made the requests Wednesday, during a hearing on L-A’s County’s proposed 43-billion-dollar budget. The budget proposal already includes a 135-million-dollar funding boost for the Sheriff’s Department’s for the upcoming fiscal year.
New sheriff in town says he needs more deputies, tasers. So, that ‘defund’ thing didn’t work?
